What Does A White Bump On Tongue Of An Infant Indicate?

Hi there, I have a very healthy/happy (most of the time) 5 1/2 month old baby boy. I have discovered a translucent whitish round ball like a pearl under his tounge. I have taken him to our GP who didn t want to upset him by taking a look, but I am concerned!! Any ideas?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand..

As per your complain a translucent whitish bump under the tongue of an infant seems to be most probably due to formation of a Mucocele that occurs due to ruptured duct of minor salivary gland leading to accumulation of mucous into the soft tissues leading to formation of a translucent lump..

It is a painless and harmless condition and will resolve gradually on its own..

But in case if the lump does not shows signs of regression in 15 days, consult a Pedodontist and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
