What Does A Red Lump On The Inner Thigh Indicate?

I have a red bump on my inner thigh, about 1/3 way up, closer to vulva than knee. I thought it was a boil, as it is about that size and hot to touch, but the redness is increasing in size, and now there is a white circle around the redness surrounding the bump. The bump is about the size of a nickel. The redness surrounding the bump is about the size of a baseball.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
I believe you have a skin infection, probably an abscess with cellulitis.

*do you have a fever?
*do you have any other medical issues or take any medications?

I recommend :
-a general surgeon or physician consult right away.
-blood tests (complete blood count, kidney function tests, blood glucose levels, C Reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate)
-culture of the pus from the boil.
-antibiotics.
-incision and drainage of the pus under local anesthesia, or excision of required.

Keep the area clean and dry. Avoid friction and sweating and see a doctor ASAP.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you recover soon
