Hello, My name is Jared Marcucci MD and I appreciate having the opportunity to try and help out with your question. In your question you state that the red bump in in your eyebrow but later you say swollen eyelid. Either way I can given you some information that I hope you find useful. A red bump that is painful in your eyebrow area can be an infected pore / skin very similar to acne. Also it could be an infected hair follicle and or an ingrown hair that has become infected. These are painful swollen bumps that can occur anywhere on the body where hair grows. Essentially the hair follicle becomes infected and the body has an immune response to prevent further spreading of the infection by creating a blocked off area around the infection. This area become swollen and painful as it causes skin to stretch as the infection grows and tries to expand. Your body s immune system does this and forms abscesses and boils as well. This bump on your eyebrow is like a small boil. Often one can reduce symptoms with clean warm compresses and there are also medications that can be applied topically if needed. Sometime these areas will pop or burst and fluid leaks out and reduces the pressure you feel in that area. If the red bump is actually on your eyelid then there are a few things that it could be and the precess of forming is similar to what I explained about infected hair follicles earlier. It could be a Hordeolum which is often called a Stye or it could be something called a Chalazion which is a blockage of a gland that becomes infected. Both of these can require antibiotics to help the healing process. Also many doctors recommend warm compresses for these problems as well. I hope that this helps answer your question. If the bump is not getting better or going away or if it is growing in size it would be best to be evaluated by your doctor who could then prescribe a treatment course for you.
