What Does A Platelet Count Of 122 Mean?

Hi, mi platetet count was 122. Last december it was 101 and after 2 weeks i tested again and it was 114. But now it is 122. My GP order an other test in exactly a month time. My neutrohls is also out of range 43 and my eosinophils is 4.5. What does this all mean? I am a 49 year old female. Last time me GP order a full bloodtest. The result no infeccion what so ever.

Hi, I M Dr. Kumarbhargav
Consultant Pathologist
I understood your health concern,
Looking to your profile you are having mild thrombocytopenia,
Just wanted to know more details like whether you have any complaints presently like cough, cold, flue like symptoms, bleeding, any history of drug intake, abdominal pain.Do you have organomegaly like enlarged spleen.
If i would have been your treating doctor, first keeping all the clinical details in mind i would have suggested peripheral blood smear examination with complete blood count and differentials, as many things can be looked like first confirming your platelet count as sometimes counter gives false low count in platelet clumping, platelet satellitism around WBCs, any hemolytic picture leading to destruction of platelets, activated lymphocytes suggesting viral infection, any parasites and many others. So you see how much information peripheral blood smear examination gives.
Also have advised Ultrasonography abdomen to exclude organomegaly like enlarged spleen which might be causing destruction of your platelets and blood cells. So proceed systematically.
Thanks for contacting health care magic.
Take care. Ask for more details if you want.
