Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have a mole on the back of my calf. It started out as small, black, and round. I had it checked by a dermatologist 2 years ago and it was deemed ok. Now, it s gotten very large and more brown. It s definatley spreading out sideways and is flat. It does have irregular edges but does not look flaky. It does not itch or bleed. I ve had a nurse and a doctor confront me in public places urging me to get it checked again. In fact the doctor was very insistant. Now I m nervous. Can moles just be flat and large with no problems?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Moles on sun exposed parts (legs and face) should always be evaluated for basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Your mole is increased in size over last 2 years. So it is advisable to undergo excision biopsy of mole. So consult dermatologist and get done excision of this mole. No point in keeping precancerous lesion. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
