What Does A Lump On The Inner Thigh Indicate?

My 15 year old daughter has a lump in her inner thigh, close to her female area. She has noticed the lump but didn't experience any pain until last night. The area is red and warm to touch like an infection has set in.
What could this be and is there anything to help with the pain?
