What Does A Lump On The Forehand Indicate?

Hi. 18 year old daughter has 2 inch bruise on right inside arm (between elbow and wrist). First appeared 1 week ago with no know injury. It had a red spot in the middle and the skin was almost black in color. Now it is more purple with some yellowing but the red center spot turned into a lump under the skin. The lump hurts to touch. Otherwise healthy female. 6 months ago she had a cancerous mole removed from her left arm (up by the shoulder). Is this something to be worried about?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

No there is no need to be worried since it looks to me like benign lesion of subcutaneous origin such as lipoma, fibroma or atheroma and if there are no skin changes such as redness, pus discharge or pain and fever then you should not be worried since it can be easily surgically removed under local anesthesia. Then it there are doubts it can be sent to the patohistologic analysis. You can also see dermatologist and do partial biopsy if you dont want more extensive surgical procedure.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
