What Does Rectum Abdominis Muscles Form Stair Step Pattern Indicate?

Rectus abdominis muscles form stair step pattern, not horizontal lines between the linea alba and the tendonis intersection. Is this a common finding, or indicative of some sort of internal pathology?

My 16 yr. old son was showing me his six pack i.e. rectus abdominal muscles yesterday and I noticed the connective tissue (tendinous intersection) do not form horizontal lines between the rectus abdominal muscles, from the left to right side, and the linea alba but more like uneven stair steps, alternating from the left to the right. I could count 7 individual rectus abdominal muscles. Is this a common finding? The picture in my Nursing anatomy book, shows the same stair step pattern, yet he is being told this is abnormal. What can be done to correct this, if it is a problem? Also, could it indicate some pathology internally?

this is normal findings. this is normal tendinous intersection in rectus abdominis muscles. they are two intersection on either side and separated by linea alba in midline. some time lower border of rectus abdominis become preominet and giving this appearance.
