What Does MRI Indicated Moderate Joint Effusion Indicate?
I had and MRI done of my left knee. Pain when squatting or after getting up from chair. MRI indicated Moderate Joint Effusion, Edema and a suspected corticol contusion involving the anterior aspect of the lateral femoral condyle. No meniscus tear. ACL/MCL appear intact. No ostechronditis dissecans.
Knee joint effusion refers to a condition in which there is collection of fluid in the knee joint space. The grading is mentioned as moderate which means the fluid is significant. There is also bone swelling noted on the outer aspect of the lower portion of thigh bone. It is important to know if you have had an injury to your knee or you are having any other inflammation or age related changes.
