What Does Left MCA Territory Acute Bleed With Severe Mass Effect Indicate?

*A large left. Temporal, parietal lobe bleed with perilesional edema and mass effect. *Fissure and sulcii are effaced on left side. *Basal cisternal spaces are effaced. Left lateral ventricle is effaced rest of the ventricles are normal. *Midline shift on the right side. *Posterior fossa appear normal in attenuation. *Skull vault is normal. Opinion :- Left MCA territory acute bleed with severe mass effect.

hi. in other words, it suggests the patient has had a stroke / cerebro-vascular accident. the left middle cerebral artery would probably have ruptured either due to an aneurysm or hypertension leading to loss of transport of oxygen and other nutrients to the left temporal and parietal lobe causing ischaemia. accumulation of fluid is oedema which means there is internal swelling in the brain causing effacement of Sulci and gyri causing pressure effect on the right lobe of brain (midline shift). hope for speedy recovery. my thoughts and prayers are with you.
