What Do These HCG And Progesterone Levels Indicate?
Hi I am having my period cycles tracked nurse told me 2 weeks ago my progesterone level s 36.7 on day 27 of my cycle I went yesterday for a pregnancy blood test (hcg and progesterone) progesterone was 87 and my hcg was less then 2 not pregnant which the nurse thought s werid!!! she told me to wait a week then if no period call her to test again could I pregnant???
Hi, Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. If you are not on any external progesterone supplements, the progesterone levels are high enough to suspect pregnancy. Yet, the serum beta-hCG titres also should correlate which is not observed here. I agree with your nurse that the titres be repeated after a week. In addition, a trans-vaginal/pelvic sonogram performed at that stage will be of much help to come to a conclusion. I also observe that the progesterone levels during mid-cycle are also higher than usual. This should be further evaluated by an expert. Hope this helps.
