What Do Painful Bowel Movements Indicate?

I have been experiencing painful bowel elimination for several days. It feels like my rectum is trying to turn itself inside out, very painful when trying to go to the bathroom. Pressure several times a day even though not much is eliminated if anything. No blood but very painful. Thanks for your advice.
