What Do Numbness And Indentation On The Gums Indicate?

A few years ago I had my upper teeth pulled. The front of my gym hasn't completely closed but yesterday a small hole appeared in the right side of gum followed by numbness all the way to the deint with bad pain going to my eye and ear. Still like this why?

Hi,

As per your complain a small hole over the gum along with pain radiating to ear and eye can be due to either an ulcer formation over the gum that can be due to trauma to the mucosa in that area or can be due to any retained root piece that can erupt towards the surface of the gum and can tear the gum leading to appearance of a hole as well as pain.

So you should consult an oral physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation like x-ray can be done to rule out the cause and treatment can be done accordingly. As of now you can apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine over the painful area and take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, and Naproxen. Do warm saline gargles.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
