What Do Impressions In Stool Indicate?

I have been noticing grooves or impressions in my stool when it is soft. Had colonoscopy last year with positive results. I'm pretty sure I have a hemorrhoid because it gets irritated every once in a while. Could this be what is causing that impression? I am 35 healthy and active.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Grooves or impression in stool when it is soft and irritation once in a while at the anal verge can be due to the following:
There looks to be intestinal infection particularly colitis that gives the appearance to the stool when it is soft and the bacterial overload can cause dermatitis of the anal area causing the irritation.
Although you have written colonoscopy last year as positive, you have not mentioned the reports means must have been positive for some disease or disorder.
Hemorrhoids do not cause any irritation unless very large or prolapsing and causing leakage.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get the stool tested for three consecutive days.
Tests of blood and ultrasonography of the whole abdomen.
Per-rectal digital examination and ano-proctoscopy to see for the local problems like Hemorrhoids, fissure or so.
Consult a General Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and correlation with lab reports and get started on proper antibiotic, metronidazole.
Also take probiotics, activated charcoal and multivitamins.
