What Do Brown Spotting And Vaginal Discharge After Taking Depo Shot Indicate?

Hi, I received my last Depo shot in February of 2014 after being on it since July 2014 and started experiencing brown spotting and slight discharge accopmanied by constant abdominal pain and am wondering if this could be due to my body finally getting rid of the Depo shot. Over the last two weeks I have also experienced really sore and swollen breasts. I did not get my period at all or experienced any spotting since my first shot in July 2014 so I was a little concerned when these symptoms started occuring

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. May be you heard the brown spotting and/or brown discharge are pretty common side effects of Depo Provera. After Depo Provera shot ovaries stop secretion and releasing eggs which is causing the uterus endometrium and the cervical mucus to thicken. Thickened tissues could be the first cause of a brown discharge. After a year of use, many women stop having periods but still continue having irregular brown discharge.
You should not use Depo shots if you have unusual vaginal bleeding.
