What Do Blood Creatinine Level Of 1.13 Mg And EGFR Of 48 Mean?

Hello! I just got my test results from Lifeline Screening and said my whole blood creatinine level is 1.13 mg considered abnormal and higher than normal. Also, my eGFR was 48 and considered abnormal according to the Ntl Kidney Disease Ed Program. They said an eGFR at this level indicates possible Chronic Kidney Disease at state 3 or worse. And they to me to see my Doctor to fully evaluate my risk for Chronic Kidney Disease. Should I? Is this that serious? I am type 2 diabetic. Should I take milk thistle? My twin also has diabetes and her doc to told her to take it. Thank you so much. Oh, and also, my kidneys do aches most of the time. Last October I had a bad kidney infection (was put on antibiotics) lost 30 lbs and lost out of going on my first cruise with my hubby! Sigh. Georgia

Thanks for your question on HCM.
Yes, you are at risk for chronic kidney disease. The risk factors for your case are
1. Long standing Diabetes 2.
2. High creatinine and eGFR.
3. Past history of renal infection possibly pyonephrosis.
So you are at risk of kidney damage. You may need Further investigations for diagnosis like.
1. S. Electrolytes (sodium and potassium level).
2. CBC with Hb estimation.
3. S. Phosphorus level.
4. S. Calcium level.
5. Urine routine and microscopy.
6. Ultrasound of kidneys.
7. Renal scan to see function of kidney.
