What Do Black Vaginal Discharge And Clots Indicate?

My periods are often abnormal. They don t come every month and they are never at a certain time of the month. Earlier Today I got my period at work and I noticed tonight on my pad there are tiny black freckle looking spots all over the pad. I ve had unprotected sex with my ex boyfriend a lot, but we ve only been with each other so I know it s not a disease. I ve looked up what it could be and I saw it s common in miscarriages. There aren t any big lumps though, but from some pictures I saw it looks like what pictures of the bigger lumps from a miscarriage looked like- red with black spots on it. I know I m not using the correct terms but I m trying to describe this the best I can. How can I tell of its from a miscarriage or just blood clots? I ve had blood clots before but those were just dark dark red googy clots that didn t hurt coming out but of coarse while on my period it hurt down there. This is just something on the inside of my pad.

hello, It is difficult to differetiate blood clots of periods from blood clots from a miscarriage in a early pregnancy (5-8 wks). When your fetus is more than 8 wks you can see fetal parts together with the clots so you can differentiate it from the period some what. apart from that you would have severe cramping type abdominal pain in miscarriage. according to your history i think its just your normal period . dark red black colour blood pass with your period when it has time to change or degrade. But if you have any doubts of a pregnancy better undergo a urine hcg test because sometimes even though you bleed a lot fetus tends to survive. hope this helps. thank you
