What Diet Needs To Be Followed For Hypothyroidism?

After RAI in Feb 2014 my doctor just said I have hypothyroidism. I told him I have no symptoms, a matter of fact instead of 90 lbs I was actually 100 lbs up until last week. He says he knows because he s been doing it 11 years. He won t listen to my family history of congenial heart failure or the hysterectomy I had in 1987. I feel worse on 25 mcg synthryoid than I did before I was told by him I had to take it or I would go into a coma and die. He only ran one test and says others don t matter. That was a week ago. Only my tendons ached and with change of diet and walking exercise I felt good. I have called his office and they say they will get back to me sometime. I feel nausea, extremely tired, dry mouth, have weight loss within a week, a pinchy pain near my heart with chest heaviness and pain in my shoulder blades. Feb 2013 I had respiratory failure from pneumonia which another cracker jack Dr. told me the hospital ER didn t know what they were doing when they diagnosed that. This Dr is in the same office building and there s no other endo Dr. to consult. Can I just stop taking it and do a natural diet? This Dr is playing God just because every hair is in place and he donated a wing at the hospital. And since I don t have insurance he told me we can t do for you as we would others that do have insurance.

Dear user
thank you asking on HCM.
You are treatment with RAI .
Let me know please whcic casue you were treatment with RAI ?
Hyperthyroid?Garves disease?Ca thyroid gland?Multinodular goiter?
Did you have done THyroidectomy?
If have hypothyroid after thyroidectomy synthroid must to take rest of your life.
You must to check please:
TSH,Ft3,Ft4,Tg(tirobindinglobulin )if you are after thyroidectomy.
about your questions :Can i just stop taking it and do a natural diet?
My answer is :No you must to take Synthroid , during blood test for thyroid function .Foods in hypothyroid diet can help the function of thyroid gland.
Allso I am saying you most important foods in a hypothyroidism diet ;
•     Wild-caugh fish-These provide omega -3 fatty acids EPA/DHA that are essential for hormone balance and thyroid function.
•     Coconut Oil – coconut oil is easy to digest, nourishes the digestive system and has antimicrobial, antioxidant and antibacterial properties that suppress inflammation.
•     Seaweeds – Some of the best natural sources of iodine, these help prevent deficiencies which disturb thyroid function and should appear in your weekly hypothyroidism diet.
•     Part of your hypothyroidism diet.
•     Clean Water – Water helps with hydration and digestive function while preventing fatigue and moodniess. For prevention of constipation, low energy and sugar cravings, drink at least eight ounces every two hours.
•     High-fiber foods – People with hypothyroidism may have digestive difficulties, so aim for 30–40 grams of fiber daily.
•     Beef and chicken stock contain the amino acids l-proline and l-glycine, which can help repair the digestive lining and improve hypothyroidism.
•     Fruits and Vegetables – These are high in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are necessary for combating free-radical damage and lowering inflammation.
Hope i answered your questions. Please dont hesitate to ask me further more informations.

Best regards
Dr Klodiana Poshi
