What Could The Bronchoscopy And Lavage Culture Be?

Had a Bronchoscopy and lavage about 6-7 weeks ago. Visited doctor after about 3 weeks was told nothing had developed yet in culture. Last week,( five weeks since procedure) received call to come in again and see doctor as something had developed. Would cancer have been seen earlier and more likely an infection has become evident at this time?

Thanks for your question on HCM. No need for cancer as cancer cells are not grown on culture plates.
The word " something grown" is for infection only. And to be specific chronic infection in your case as it took almost 3 weeks to grow.
So no need to worry about malignancy. You may have chronic infections like
1. TB
2. Fungal pneumonia
3. Non resolving pneumonia.
So better consult your doctor and forget about malignancy.
