Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm a 57 year old female and have soreness just at the opening of the urethra. Sometimes the lower half of the opening is a little more red than the top half, but otherwise there is nothing else to see visually. I have no symptoms of cystitis and the urethra does not burn or itch with urination. Any ideas?
Hi! I'm Dr. Neel Kudchadkar and I'd like to help you. In most cases, this is a self resolving issue. There could be a physical trauma there, keep this in mind and maintain vaginal hygiene. You can try many feminine hygiene products in the market. As you feel, you have no infection. But a urine scan would help greatly, because infections can be at a very threshold level. I certainly do not think that these are signs of any serious problems like sexually transmitted infections or perhaps cancer even. I am saying this because people worry about such things. Please don't worry. You'll get better soon. As I said, I repeat again that your problem is self resolving. You can ask me further questions on HCM by emailing customer care and sending them a mail with the subject line "Attention: Dr. Neel Kudchadkar"
