What Could Lumps On The Areola Region Suggest?

hello I am 45 yrs old, the other day I notice I have a pea size, pus filled lump around my areola. I tried to squeeze it, much to painful, tried everything to get the fluid out with no success. I think it maybe a hair follicle or something along those lines but I can t help to feel a lil concerned. could this be something more?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A painful pus filled lump around the areola could be a boil, folliculitis or inflammation of hair follicle.
If you are lactating, then this could be related to lactation.
However, a clinical assessment of the lesion is required.
In case the pus filled lesion is small, it will respond to antibiotics.
If the lesion is large enough, incision and drainage of the lesion needs to be done.

Thanks and take care
