There is a separate test for bile acids that diagnosis cholestasis of pregnancy- it needs to be ordered by your midwife. But in the meantime, taking allergy medicine at night, and using oatmeal bath products to soothe the skin, and lots of lotion, can vastly improve the symptoms. There are also medications that can lower bike acids.

I suggest if you do have elevated bile acids that you consult with a physician for treatment and monitoring of the baby, as this is considered a high risk situation.

I hope this information was helpful to you and best of luck with the rest of the pregnancy. Regards, Dr. Brown
