What Could It Be If Having Lump Under The Skin On The Thigh Which Burns?

I have a small lump under the skin on my left outer thigh about 6 inches above the knee to the right. During the day i have no real issues with this area however at night if i lay on that side it has a burning sensation and it will make me change positions during the night cause it gets to burning. What could this be? I am 46 and 5'5" weight now is 295 because I just had gastric bypass surgery and gall bladder surgery on 11/28/11 which i was at my highest weight of 398.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

This bump can be a varicose vein. Obesity is a risk factor of varicose veins. It is also very common for varicose veins to give pain or burning after whole day (especially when standing for a long time). It the lump is hard in touch, blood clot might be inside.
I suggest you to consult your doctor with this issue. Dopplers veins ultrasound should be done to rule out veins thrombosis.
Compression stockings should be used in case of confirmed varices.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
