What Could Discomfort In Neck And Throat With All Tests Being Normal Suggest?

I ve been experiencing neck & throat discomfort for some time now - at least 3 occurences/month. -feels like there is a splinter and it won t go away, even when I try to swallow . -have been seen by 2-ENTs both of whom dropped an NG tube, but neither found anything. I was also seen by a cardiologist, as I was beginning to think maybe the discomfort was cardiac-related. After an echocardiogram and extensive bloodwork - nothing was found. It continues to be ongoing. Any ideas, please?

Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.
I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
There are several causes of neck and throat discomfort. it is good you had a tube go and check your throat, it rules out many local issues. A heart work up is wise also as heart issues can cause pain and discomfort in the neck. I do not see you have done an ECG or stress test- these would be needed if you are above 50 yo.
Another cause might be reflux of acid from the stomach. I would recommend you to try omeprazole for several days and see if this helps. Make sure you avoid caffeine, smoking and alcohol and have small frequent meals avoiding fatty and spicy food.
Another thing to check is your thyroid. I would have a neck ultrasound to see the thyroid and other neck structures and a TSH blood test to see the thyroid function.
I hope this is helpful and answers to your question
