What Could Cause Right Side Of The Tongue To Swell?

I woke up in the middle of the night and the right side of my tongue was swollen on the right side only. This has happened on occasion in the past. Any ideas as to what caused it. I have no allergies, did not bite my tonguue, have not gotten bit by anything and have no infections or oral hygiene issues.

Dentist 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for posting the query,

This could be due to allergic reaction, sinus infections, tongue biting unintentionally during sleep.
A detailed clinical examination and evaluation is required to determine the cause.
I would suggest you to consult to a Dentist and get the checkup done.
At home take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
Take multivitamin suplements.

Take care!
