What Could Cause Redness In Eye All Of A Sudden?

six days ago I woke up with my left eye feeling like it something in it. After eye washing and drops it felt no better. I had a tube of neomycin polymyxin b sulfate a, bacitracin zinc ointment that I have been using since. Even wore an eye patch for a couple days. It felt better after a few days and I have not put a contact in that eye. Today it is very red in the corner and the red is getting more towards the middle. When I pull back my eye lid the inside is so red it looks almost black. Still feels a little scratchy towards the evening but no longer hurts like it did in the beginning.
What would cause this redness all of a sudden?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having sudden onset of redness of eyes. This can be because of infection of the eyes in the form of conjunctivitis.
Since it has responded to antibiotic ointment you have used I advice you to continue it and avoid use of contact lenses till infection is cured.
If redness is not getting cured need to change antibiotic.
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
