What Could Cause Painful Back / Legs With A Growth Spurt After Abortion?

Hi, my friend recently had an abortion(about 3 weeks) . She now has huge pain in her back and in her legs.
We noticed today that she really looks like she grew about an inch or so. She looks taller...

Is there any way that she could, at 27year old, experience growing pains without use of any GH?

Hello,
It is highly unlikely for any growth spurt to occur at this age even when hormones are given, because the epiphyses of the long bones have long been fused and further elongation cannot happen. It is more likely that loss of weight or a change in posture may be the cause. Further, you can check periodically with measure and see if your observation is true or not and if in the rarest case you find it true, let her see a specialist for further help. The pain in the legs and back is mostly due to the process of the abortion and if it was surgical, also due to the positions adopted while performing the procedure. Infection of the cervix and pelvis also should be considered. Hope this helps.

Abortion does not cause any alterations of growth hormone. In addition, taking GH as an adult does not cause height increased because your growth plates in your legs fuse when you reach maturity. You only "grow" muscles and heavier bones as a side effect of GH as an adult, which is why athletes who abuse it get bigger and stronger but not taller. Your friend should accurately measure her height to check to see if she has grown, and i doubt she will find anything. She may be having back and leg pain from other issues and should see a primary care doctor if these symptoms continue. I hope this answers your question and good luck.
