What Could Cause Nose Bleed After Being Hit On Head?

my son was hit in the head by the pitcher at a baseball game (little league- my son is 9 years old). the pitcher is 11 years old and was throwing hard. my son had his helmet on and seems fine- after the game last night and this morning . no signs of concussion. He did have a nose bleed immediately after he was hit although it did not seem that the ball hit his nose.the ball hit the side of this head through the helmet. Can you explain why he could have had the nose bleed? it was hot and dry and he tends to get nosebleeds anyway but it happened right after he was hit.

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. I understand your concern. I will suggest you danger signs of head injury -
1. Vomiting continuously
2. Seizures
3. Watery of bloody discharge from ears and nose
4. Unconsciousness
5. Altered sensorium or behaviour.
If none of them are present, I don't think you should worry about his trivial head injury. For pain you can give oral Paracetamol in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly.

But in your son's case it might be due to rupture of the blood vessels in the nose as he gets nose bleeds frequently. But anyways I suggest you take him to the paediatrician and get him checked once.
Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
