What Could Cause Mottled Reddish Appearance On The Thighs?

I am a very healthy 71 year old who still plays tennis, including singles with much younger players. I do notice that my thighs seem to have a mottled reddish appearance, n ot anywhere else. I also work out at the Y with silver sneakers. What are these blotches?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Mottled red appearance can be due to bruising of the thighs due to bleeding or vessel wall disorders.
Is there any history of trauma to the thigh region?
If yes, then trauma is the most probable cause of mottled appearance.
If not then you need to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and relevant investigations.
Investigations like platelet count, bleeding time, clotting time, PT and aPTT are required to assess the function of platelets and coagulation system.
The probable cause of reddish appearance of thigh will be determined by these investigations and thus management can be planned.

Thanks and take care
