What Could Cause Itching In Tailbone After Jaw Surgery?
I had a recent and is recovering from a jaw surgery recently. Right after the surgery I notice the base of my tailbone/Butt area was painful and numb. I didn t think too much about it and eventually after a couple of day the pain went away. But ever since then for the past 2 week, that same area been having an increase in itchiness that occurs usually in the night. I am not sure but recently I took a dose of sodium diclofenac to relieve the pain in my tooth, and it felt since then my itch has intensify. My only relief is to use ice pack and some tea tree oil.
Hello, I can see that you took an anti-inflammatory medication. Intestinal upset and imbalance can be a side effect of medications. Since you had jaw surgery and report a tooth pain, is or was there a dental infection present? Were you treated with an antibiotic? This can affect your normal bacteria balance. There are opportunistic infections that can develop. A yeast infection may be possible and present with these signs especially itchiness. Acidophilus may help an imbalance. Your clothes may irritate and be affecting the increase of your symptoms at the end of the day. Benedryl, oral medication and direct contact spray/gel and cortico-steroid ointments may offer relief. You should consult with your dentist due to recent surgery. Complications in your mouth may require medication that will solve your itchiness. If not, you will be recommended to see your physician. Thank you for your inquiry. I hope you will be able to resolve this with some of my recommendations and find my response helpful.
