What Could Cause Herpes Virus Between The Fingers?

Hello. I am a 58 yr old female, healthy. I was told today that I have the Herpes Virus between the fingers on one hand. Did I contract Herpes via mastrubation? If so,does this mean that I have vaginal herpes? What do I need to do?

I am not sexually active and have never had this form of Herpes. Cold Sores ,yes but that is it. What should I do next?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Thank you for query. Herpes simplex virus (HSV1 and 2) can spread by oral or kiss or by skin to skin contact or sexual route or self inoculation.here the source may be cold sores if you never had genital herpes. When active lesions are there then you can take oral acyclovir 200 mg 5 times a day for 5-7 days.Usually the severity and number decrease as days pass by.When no lesions are present to prevent recurrence acyclovir 400mg daily can be taken to prevent recurrence for a period of 6 -12 months under supervision of doctor. You can get back for any clarifications.Dr Bharatesh
