What Could Cause Diarrhea Followed By Constipation?

Hi there, at about 8 in the evening I had a latte from Starbucks. At 12 midnight while I was studying I started to experience cramping of the stomach. When I went to the washroom I started to have diarrhea. I decided to go to bed but I still had a feeling that I still "had to go". I ignored this feeling due to being tired, but 4 hours later I am up and still have that feeling that I have to go. When I tried I realized that I'm now constipated. Is this bad? I am thirsty right now so maybe that is a factor?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Cramping, diarrhea and constant feeling to pass motion that is called tenesmus is definitely a case of gastroenteritis as you have outside food.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get a consultation of your Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations of stool and blood to get a proper diagnosis.
You may need a proper 5 day course of an antibiotic active against intestinal infection, metronidazole and probiotics.
Use boiled and cooled water.
Take fresh home made food only.
Get electrolyte solution and plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration and electrolyte imbalance.
Symptomatic treatment with a PPI like Omeprazole, antispasmodic can help you further.
