What Could Cause Chest Pain In A 12 Years Old Child?

I am a twelve year old girl and recently I have noticed quite sharp jabbing sort of pains in my upper chest and the pain can spread to the other side.sometimes it hurts by my upper rib cage and also hurts more when I breath in more deeply. It hurts at night and I find it difficult to sleep because the pain wakes me up alot! I have researched my symptoms and it looks like it could be costochondritis but the pain is very scary. Please help me if you can.thankyou.

Hello. I just read through your question.
The most common diagnosis in this age group is, as you say, Costochondritis. This is generally not anything to be concerned about. It is very common. To control the pain, ibyprofin may be taken. If the pain seems to worsen over time, it is worth having it checked by your doctor. But in most cases, the diagnosis remains the same.
