Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I m worried I might have herpes but I m pretty sure I m just scaring myself. There are two pimple looking things on my inner thighs, I popped one and it bled. What would you think that would mean? I live in a very hot state so I figured it could be ingrown hair or the fact I wear tight athletic shorts.
Herpes infections are very painful and appear in clusters of small blisters on one side. These appear on both sides only if you have very severe disease or have poor immunity as seen in diabetes, HIV and pregnancy.
Since from the information you have provided, the bumps donot seem to be painful, it is unlikely to be herpes. These bumps seem to be pimples - lesions caused due to blockage of hair follicles due to sweat and sebum or oil secretion. The fact that you live in a hot state and are in the habit of wearing tight shorts further supports this.
I would advise you to keep the area clean and dry. Wearing loose fitting clothes will help especially during summer. You can also apply medicated talc over the lesions. These measures should clear them in 1-2 weeks. If they persist or increase in size, you may need to apply antibiotic cream which will be prescribed by your dermatologist.
Hope this helps. Wishing you good health.
Regards, Dr Geeta
