What Could Cause Big Fetal Head?

HI IM 21 YEARS & 36 WEEKS PREGNANT HEIGHT IS 5 FEET 2 INCHES CURRENTLY MY WEIGHT IS 75 KGS.MY OB SAID MY BABY'S HEAD IS SLIGHTLY BIG & SO HE HAS NOT ENGAGED IN MY PELVIS.MAY I KNOW WHY IS MY BABY'S HEAD BIG?WILL I HAVE ANY PROBLEM DURING LABOR & DELIVERY?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
By measuring BPD(Bi parietal diameter) and HC(Head circumference), the head size of the baby can be estimated.
Slightly big head means, the size of the baby head could be in upper normal level.
And compared with your pelvic inlet, the circumference of the baby head could be big.
While reaching the term and during labor, some amount of relaxation of the pelvic joints can be expected.
So in case of minimal disparity, the head can engage.
If the disparity between pelvic inlet size and baby head size is more, you may need elective cesarean section.
