What Could Be The Vasovagal Response When Feeling For Bowel Movement?

When I feel a bowel movement is about to be coming I become brain foggy, feeling detached from the real world for some moments. My doctor suggest it is a vasovagal response, nothing to worry about. When reducing my paxil dose these responses are becoming more intense. I had numerous investigations in the hospital (colonoscopy, ECG, various scans,..), everything ok. Is there a way to mitigate these responses (when lowering Paxil).

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of brain becoming foggy, feeling detached from the real world for some moment when the bowel movement is about to come. Doctor suggested for vaso-vagal shock, you are on lower Paxil dosages and this problem is erupting,
Since you are on antidepressant called Paxil, there will definitely be a problem like the one you have described.
This can be called as Syncope also, as also vaso-vagal syndrome, accentuated by lowering the dosages of Paxil.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Since you have already undergone colonoscopy, ECG and various scans as they are also normal, there is not much to worry about.
You will have to have a good control over depression by any means like naturotherapy, yoga and so on.
Also have to take special care.
Tell the family members whenever you are going for bathroom and do not lock the door from within so that even if there is an attack people can assist you; avoid stairs alone, avoid flames and water bodies, no driving at all.
The dosages of Paxil can be altered mater on too, do not haste through.

I find this answer helpful
