What Could Be The Thing With Pinkish White Streaks Found In The Cough?

Hello,
My wife had a sore throat and a fever two days ago. She took acetaminophen, drank chamomile, and orange juice (she's breastfeeding, so that's about all she can take). About 24 hours later she started feeling much better. A few hours after that, she coughed up something that she felt lodged between her nose and mouth. It was rubbery in texture, about an inch long and half an inch wide, and was pinkish with streaks of red in it. Since coughing that up, she hasn't coughed again and has felt perfectly fine.
What is it that she could have coughed up? Is there something we should worry about? Can this be something major? Please help.
Thank you for your time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
As you describe, it appears that your wife had a infection of the throat, and the phlegm has stopped in the nasopharynx.
When the allergy is over, the congestion in the throat is relieved, the phlegm stored in the nasopharynx and blood streaks which expected to be there is coughed out.
If the infection continues you can consult an E.N.T surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.
wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
