What Could Be The Sore Spot On The Top Of The Head?

I have a sore spot that has reoccurred in the top of my head. The spot is tender to touch and located slightly to the right at the top of head. I have been experiencing this symptom for at least 3 years now. I can not seem to associate the symptom with anything. I have consulted with my physician about a year ago and she did order an ultra sound however, insurance would not agree and insisted on CAT scan. I did not have the cat scan due to cost. While it is not debilitating pain at any time the concern I have of what it is has become at least a distraction.

Hi,welcome to healthcaremagic forum.
Tender spots on the scalp,is most likely a soft tissue infection.It can be well treated with antibiotics and analgesics,unless there is pus collection that need be drained.If it recurs frequently,it is better to do a "pus culture and sensitivity" and give the exact antibiotic in full course.Also,scalp condition like seborrhea/dandruff/pediculosis can lead to reccurent infections.So that conditions if present,need to be treated.
