What Could Be The Red Circle Rashes On Arms, Upper Thighs?

I've been noticing these little red circle rashes on my body. They look like a cigarette burn, first it was one then I noticed a total of 4, 3 on my arms and 1 on my upper thigh. When I take a shower and wash them they almost look unnoticeable, but about an hour or 2 later they look the same. The rash looks red on the outside and has a little dry skin circle in the middle.. Can you telll me what this is and what could I do?

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I would keep a possibility of pityriasis rosea.

The essential clinical features are:
1. Discrete circular or oval lesions,
2. Scaling on most lesions, and
3. Peripheral collarette scaling with central clearance.

An upper respiratory tract infection may precede in many patients. The rash usually lasts for 4 weeks but sometimes recurrent crops of new lesions can make the condition last longer(may be 12 weeks).

I usually advice my patients to use a topical steroid cream twice daily over the lesions.

An oral anti-histamine once daily like cetrizine can be given to decrease the itching.

Some dermatologist prefer to give oral erythromycin 250mg thrice daily for 2-4 weeks. It works as an anti-inflammatory rather than as an antibiotic.

take care
regards
