What Could Be The Reason Of White Sticky Discharge From Anus?
Hello Doctor, my father who is 76 years old experiences the problem of white sticky discharge from his anus quite often. He has been having the problem for about 3 weeks now. When the doctor did a CT scan of the intestine and lower areas, he saw no problems except Piles which my father has been suffering from quite some time. The discharge/moistness seems to be more when my father consumes tea or coffee even though he consumes the drinks when they are at lukewarm temperature. Please tell us what we should do next...What treatment can we give?
Hi. Thanks for your query and an elucidate history. Your Father is 76 years old- the process of aging makes the muscle lax allowing easy escape of sticky discharge; plus he has piles. It is good that the CT scan is normal. He needs colonoscopy to rule out problem in the large bowel like ulcer which is not picked up on CT scan at all. Manual that is per-rectal examination by a Surgeon can determine the laxity, chance of any polyp any mass or so, presence of fecoliths and all such reasons. He has to avoid all the foods and beverages which increase this problem. A course of an antibiotic, metronidazole may help.
