What Could Be The Reason For Itchiness In The Vagina At Each Side Of Clitoris And Has Sore Cuts?

Hello, recently I have been quite itchy down there and I noticed that around each side of my clitoris all the way down towards my anus, there are sores that look like cuts. I had tried noesporin on them and it didn t help very much and vagisil did not help much either. I also started to notice little red blotches in the area too (mostly towards my anus). The entire area is very irritated and I am not sure what to do to calm the itch and irritation. I read online that wearing thongs could cause irritation down there, so I started to wear full, cotton underwear instead, but this is recent so I haven t noticed any significant changes yet. I recently switched toilet papers also, so I thought that could possibly be a cause? Or possibly the new baby powder that I put on after I shower. I am not sure what could be causing it. I am sexually active, with only one partner of 2 years, and this is beginning to come between our sexual life. If you have any sort of answers for me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi,

I can understand your concern for the itchiness in the vagina at each side of clitoris and has sore cuts.

After reading your query with complete diligence I can make out that your symptoms are indicative of candidal vulvovaginitis or simply saying fungal infection of the area..

Had it been a STD candidiaisis, herpes, gonorrhea or any other, then would had manifested in form of deep redness, discharge or a bump with ulceration to follow or similar such symptoms which never go unnoticed.

If I were your dermatologist then would hae prescribed clotrimazole or sertaconazole cream and pessary with oral anti-fungal such as fluconazole 150 mg on alternate days.

Till that time avoid sexual intercourse or any manipulation to prevent further secondary infection.

Always have safer sex by using condoms to prevent any type of sexually transmitted disease.

Take care.

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
From your history and description, it seems that you may be having an yeast infection called vaginal candidiasis. If you are having an associated curdy white discharge vaginally, it could be a part of vulval and vaginal candidiasis.
You will benefit from oral fluconazole and topical 1% clotrimazole cream applied twice a day for 10-15 days.
Do not over wash the area and keep the area as dry as possible.
Changing toilet paper could also be a cause if you have developed an allergic contact dermatitis to the paper, especially if it is scented or colored.
Do not put powder there as it tends to firm a thick layer.
If your partner has any soreness or redness on his penis, it could indicate an yeast infection and he needs to be treated as well.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
