Hi,thanks for query.Normally the injury that you had leads to ankle sprain, means pulling of muscles. This leads to pain and swelling in that area.Do cold message, tie crepe bandage over the area, take rest,do not put weight on it while walking.Take analgesic drugs as it also helps in reliving swelling.Raise your ankle over couple of pillows while you sleep. If this does not help and you need to see your doctor.bye.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist Suhani Sethi's  Response
it is possibly a sprained ankle.
try RICE that is rest, ice, compression and elevation.
minimize the use of the affected part.
apply ice but not more than 3 to 4 times a day only for 15 min each time.
compress the affected part crepe bandage. tie from distal to proximal. should not be to tight to compromise circulation.
elevate the affected part above heart level. try keeping ur leg on a pillow at night.
this helps gravity remove swelling
