What Could Be The Reason For Having White Markings On Toe Nails?

White markings on my toe nails. Cannot feel to touch, they are not raised, just scattered, white blemishes. I usually use polish to hide them. I also probably have fungal infection under the nail on one foot, but the white markings are on all my toe nails. ???

Hi,

I can understand your concern for having white markings on toe nails.

It can be part of fungal infection where the fungal debries may be visible as white spots or it may be normal process of nail which we call as leuconychia.

For the best possible diagnosis you can meet a dermatologist and take guidance according.

If I were your treating dermatologist then would have given you a proper treatment for fugal infection of the nail in form of oral terbinafine or itraconazole.

Do take a proper treatment of fungal infection of the nail.

Take care.

hi white markings on the nails can be due to iron deficiency or due to renal abnormality.if it is iron deficency it is usually associated with kiolonychia .to rule out renal deforimity go for serum creatinine and blood urea and more over half and half nails are pathogmonic of renal disease
