I have a bump on my forehead. I thought that I might have hit my head on my nightstand but, it's been here for two weeks now and there is no improvement. I've thried to ice it and it has not gone down. it no longer hurts and its hard to touch. What could this be?

Hi,

I can understand your concern for bump on your forehead. There can be multiple possibilities of the bump and it requires a close physical examination to diagnose the exact entity of the problem.

In my view correlating with the facts you have provided it appears to be either sebaceous cyst or a lipoma.

I suggest you to meet a dermatologist to for proper therapy. In between you should avoid contact of dust to the area properly. If I were your dermatologist then presumptively would have preferred to wait and watch. You can take an antihistamine such as loratadine for twice a day if itching is present.

Do not try to pinch, pop or squeeze the area as it may cause secondary infection of the area.

All the best

Dear in ur case the swelling is of calcium origin. This is seen in calcium metabolism disorder n gets resolved when large amount of calcium is given orally and hence which further activates feedback mechanism...n maintaining the blood calcium level. And ultimately the bump will regress. In case if u r sure about ur trauma then u hv to consult physcian to start antiinflammatory drugs , serratopeptidases . Also proper examination of swelling is essential at this time..to rule out any kind of cyst or growth.....good luck
