So the other day I was looking in the mirror and noticed a very small bump on my back With a black dot which looked like a blackhead but when I squeezed this super thick black/gray/brown stuff continuously kept coming out ..I squeezed for a while until it stopped coming out but that black dot is still there and I think not all of it is out ...could you tell me what this is ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.
I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
The first thing that come to mind with the symptoms you prescribe and the localisation of the black dot is a blocked fat gland that causes dermoid cysts. These are cysts that are full of fat and have a black dot on top which is the blocked duct. Sometimes they are small lumps and sometimes they grow bigger. they are not dangerous but might need to be removed as it is easier to remove them when small and a smaller scar remains.
Another cause is Keratoacanthoma- this is a lump with a black center. This is lesion that is not dangerous also but is advised to be surgically removed and biopsied as few of them might have a risk for malignancy.
You can see pictures in google images to have an idea of which of the two seems more likely top be the cause. Do not pick on keratoachanthoa.
You will need a doctor to have a look at your lesion and definitely decide which is the cause of it and which is the proper treatment plan.
Hope this is helpful and answers to your question
