What Could Be The Cause Of Increased Calcium And Cholesterol Level?

After taking my yearly physical and blood work results, I would like to know how and what would make my calcium levels be high? My cholesterol levels were actually better than before. Thanks for your time and input.

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

High calcium level is commonly due to overactive nodule of Parathyroid glands, which are located over the Thyroid glands. MRI of Parathyroid glands and estimation of Parathyroid hormone in the blood are required for the diagnosis.

High cholesterol can be due to either, genetic/ familial; or, due to obesity, high fat intake, lack of physical exercises, diabetes and Thyroid problem- to name a few.

Low fat diet, weight reduction, regular exercises, control of diabetes (if any) and evaluation for thyroid problem, followed by appropriate replacement hormonal therapy will bring down cholesterol to normal levels.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.
