What Could Be The Cause Of Delay In Periods As The Pregnancy Tests Are Negative ?

I am 24, 3weeks late for my period . Am sexually active but am not aware of any specific accidents where I may have become pregnant . I have taken 7 pregnancy tests including a hospital test and several digital ones, all have come back negative. The only other symptom I have is extremely sore nipples , they hurt even when water in the shower touches them it s awful. I was stressed around the time my last period was due but feel better now (despite this worry) I also work shifts a combination of days/nights in a fairly stressful environment. Could I still be pregnant If not what could be wrong? Please help

With a many time negative urine pregnancy test, there is no chance that you may be pregnanct.
There can be other causes of amenorrhoea, common amongst them being functional ovarian cysts, which will prevent bleeding. Other causes can be some hormonal imbalances, infections or even an early menopause (though you are too young and that is a remote possibility)
The ideal approach presently will be to get an abdominal USG which will reveal if there are any ovarian cysts.
Secondly you should go in for the following blood investigations:
1. Serum LH, FSH, PRL
2. serum Estrogen, progestrone.
Thirdly, your gyneac may prescribe some medicines for causing bleeding in case of estrogen progestrone imbalance.

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
As your periods are 3 weeks late, unprotected sex/intercourse about 35 days back only can make you pregnant. Chances of pregnancy are very few because all tests for pregnancy are negative & you also don't remember any accident during sex which can result in pregnancy. Nipples can become sore due to some infection, which requires treatment. Periods are related with ovulation, & start 14 days after ovulation. If ovulation is delayed due to any reason, menstrual period will also get delayed accordingly. Stress could be the cause. You should consult a gynaecologist for examination & treatment of sore nipples.
