General & Family Physician Dr. Shainaz Arif Kaware's  Response
welcome to HealthcareMagic
The big heart that your father has is probably due to condition of congestive cardiac failure leading to back pressure changes on lungs leading to cough. This can happen if he has suffered a silent infarct;or lowered ejection fraction of heart and even excess weight which may lead to the condition. He needs to be evaluated and investigated to find the reason of such a condition and since it is related to heart definitely it is to be considered as critical.Let the Cardiologist examine him and he will advise the proper medicines required and he should recover soon but the medicines will have to be continued lifelong.Since it is a critical illness it is not advisable to write or prescribe any medicine on internet neither you should look for and he has to be treated by a Cardiologist. Please consult a Heart specialist immediately.
