What Causes Wrist Rash When Sweating And In Summer?
I m a 27 y/o male. For about 13 years now I have been getting a very irritating rash on my wrist. This happens every summer. And as far as I can remember only during the summer. The first few years I would get this rash it would also be on the back of my neck and below my belly button. But now it s only my wrist. It closely resembles poison ivy. I have sought medical care only time for this condition. While I was in the army the PA told me it was scabies. I took the medicine as prescribed and followed his directions on what to do with clothing, bedding etc. It did not go away. I m also married and my wife has never had any similar symptoms. That makes me think it is something besides scabies do to the fact that you can pass them to other people. I m a very clean person and shower at least twice a day and clean clothing and bedding on a regular. The rash can last a couple days to a few months. Worsens when I swet. I work out side a lot and when I m out there in the heat it really flares up but if there are a few days where I don t have to be out it clears right up.
Hi. As per your case history you are having polymorphic light eruption. My treatment advice is - 1. Avoid sun exposure and use a good sunscreen lotion with spf more than 30. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
