What Causes Whitish Coat On The Tongue And Metallic Taste To The Food?

5 days ago my wisdom tooth was removed because it was 100% horizontal. As per doctor's orders I've been washing my mouth after each meal and before going to bed, followed by a mouthwash rinse. Just now after brushing I realized my tongue had a white-ish coating that doesn't go away after brushing my tongue (I always brush tongue and cheeks). I've also been experiencing some sort of off flavors with food, but mostly with water. It doesn't taste metallic, just weird.

Hello, Welcome Thanks for consulting HCM,

I have gone through your query, as you have mentioned that you have undergone wisdom tooth removal now you feel whitish coat on tongue and metallic taste dont worry , itcan be due to ,

Depapillation of papillae of tongue.

Not maintaince of proper Oral hygiene due to Extraction.

Due to antibiotic and mouthwash used after extraction.

You do is use tongue cleaner to clean your tongue.

Do warm saline gargle two - three times a day.

Take one capsule vitamin B complex twice daily for 5 days

If then you wont get relief then consult dentist and go for oral examination

Hope this will help you.

Wishing you good health.
